$15 Find

I found this brass and marble desk lamp at an antique store this week.

It has great lines and beautiful details.

It is the perfect addition to this little corner of my desk where I keep a bowl of office supplies, a collection of rocks and shells from various travels and a source of inspiration I found in a fortune cookie many years ago.

Not bad for $15.

{I apologize for the late post today. I woke up with a terrible case of mastitis :( It is so painful and so far nothing is helping. I know a lot of you are mamas - any tips for getting some relief? I feel like I have tried everything! Hopefully the antibiotics will help. I am going to use this as the perfect excuse to lay on the couch the rest of the night eating comfort food and cheering on my UNC Tarheels! GO HEELS!}

Ugh! I'm sorry that is the worst- I never had it bad enough for antibiotics- thank goodness- but the only way I found relief was to lean over a super hot pan of water followed up with nursing leaning over the baby... If that makes any sense. Just dont stop nursing- it helps!

Hi Rachel, first of all - amazing lamp and I can't believe it was only $15! And, I love your fortune cooking saying! Second, I had mastitis twice! It's super painful. I would take hot showers to open up ducts, massage the sore ducts and then breastfeed immediately after. I tried to get my baby to breastfeed when she was super hungry so she could clear out the ducts. The antibiotics will help - I had to use them twice. Good Luck!!

I love the lamp and I HATE mastitis! It is so miserable. The best advice I got (other than hot compresses/nursing constantly) is to lie down and try to position Hayes so that her chin touches wherever the clogged duct is. I ended up pointing my son's feet towards the headboard when I had it. The antibiotics should help a lot and soon. I never needed to, but I had several friends who got it frequently, and started taking letchin supplements to "thin" their milk (I think that's what it does) to try and prevent it. Feel better soon!
